How to order flowers!

If you have ever sent flowers to someone and been disappointed with what they received?  Here are some tips to get the most out of your flowers!

1.  Only order from local florist!  NEVER use 1800flowers!  They take a cut and then place the order.  They don't give the flower shops enough money to do the order proper after they take their cut.

2.  If you need to order online and you don't know the local florist website, use http://www.ftd.com/ or http://www.teleflora.com/ .  They do take a wire fee, but they add that into the price so the flower shops aren't getting shorted on the total left for the arrangement.

3. Ask for the specifics, how many stems? what did they get new today?  Give the designer some freedom to do what they think is nice rather than ordering a picture and you'll get something that is special and in season.

4.  Vased is better....arrangements in vases will last longer than one in floral foam, like a basket arrangement.

5.  Plants are a great choice for all occasions.  While flowers can be enjoyed for a week or so, a plant lasts as long as the owner takes care of it.  Many women don't like flowers because they think it is a "waste of money" to buy something that only lasts a short time.  Plants are also perfect for sympathy arrangements.
